AKSU Postgraduate Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission into any AKSU postgraduate programs for the 2024/2025 academic session, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Master’s Programmes:
- Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from AKSU or any other recognized university, with a minimum of Second Class Lower (2:2) classification.
- Some programs may require a Second Class Upper (2:1) or higher, depending on the field of study.
Doctoral Programmes:
- Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with a satisfactory CGPA as stipulated by the university.
- Candidates must demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research and may be required to submit a research proposal.
Additional Requirements:
- Candidates must have the necessary O’Level credits relevant to their chosen field of study.
- International applicants may need to provide proof of English language proficiency and equivalent qualifications.

Steps to Apply for the AKSU Postgraduate Admission Form 2024/2025

Application forms can be accessed online on payment of N20,000.00 (twenty thousand Naira) only excluding charges. The following steps should be followed:

Visit http://www.aksu.edu.ng/pg.
Click the “Start Now” button.
Choose “ENROL.”
Select Postgraduate.
Enter your phone number.
On the next page, input the last six digits of your phone number.
Provide your basic information, including your Surname, First Name, Other Names, Date of Birth, Gender, and Marital Status.
Select the card payment option to pay NGN20,000 (excluding bank charges) using your debit card.

After making your payment, make ensure that you fill out the online registration form with the necessary data and print the filled-out form. The following papers must be scanned and uploaded:

SSC or a degree equivalent, such as an HND, OND, PGD, or PGDE (only for M.Sc. candidates)
M.Sc./M.A./M.Ed./MBA (Only for those pursuing PhDs)
NYSC (discharge, exclusion, and exemption)
Birth Certificate Origin CertificateOnce the form is filled out, click the SUBMIT button.

PRINT the Registration Confirmation sheet as verification of registration.

Applicants must submit a completed thesis or dissertation proposal using the School of Postgraduate Studies Proposal Sheet, along with supporting documents. The proposal should include the title, research objectives, significance, methodology, and expected outcomes.

After obtaining the necessary forms, candidates should arrange for their academic transcripts to be sent to the Secretary of the School of Postgraduate Studies at Akwa Ibom State University.

Completed reference forms must also be emailed to the specified address on the admission application. Note that admission will not be granted without both the reference form and transcript.
