Admission Requirements For UNILAG Postgraduate Programs 2024/2025

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has specific requirements for candidates applying for its postgraduate programs. These include qualifications for Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s (M.Sc.), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs. Below are the general guidelines:-

General Requirements for PGD and M.Sc. Programs At UNILAG 2024/2025

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree from UNILAG or any other approved university.
Candidates holding qualifications recognized by the University of Lagos Senate may also apply.
In some cases, candidates may need to undergo a written and/or oral examination as part of the selection process.

Notes:-

Candidates who have not completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program or are currently enrolled in another postgraduate program are not eligible and will be disqualified.
Those awaiting Bachelor’s degree results should not apply.
Degrees from Outreach or Satellite campuses are not accepted.
All academic transcripts must be submitted to the Deputy Registrar/Administrative Secretary of the School of Postgraduate Studies before the admission session begins.

General Requirements for M.Phil. and Ph.D.

Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.)

Candidates must hold a Second Class Upper (2:1) Bachelor’s degree from UNILAG or any other recognized institution.
Applicants with a Master’s degree must have a minimum CGPA of 3.50.
Candidates are required to confirm the availability of supervisors from their respective departments before applying.
Departments may require candidates to participate in a selection process.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

Candidates must have a minimum CGPA of 4.0 from an M.Phil. program.
Candidates with a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree must also have a minimum CGPA of 4.0.
Applicants must confirm the availability of vacancies and supervisors with their respective departments before applying.
