Admission Requirements for B.Sc. in Public Administration – UME Entry Requirements

  • UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations) organized by the Joint
    Admission and Matriculation Board.
  • A 4-year degree requires a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSC) issued by the National Examination Council (NECO), General Certificate of Education (GCE) O/L; West African School Certificate (WASC) issued by WAEC with credits passes in five subjects including English and Mathematics and Government in addition to UTME (JAMB) scores in English, Government or History, Economics, and any other subject.

Direct Entry Requirements

  •  A 3-year Degree program (Direct Entry) basic requirements: Candidates for direct entry admission shall possess 5 credit passes in GCE, SSCE, NECO, or their equivalents of which at least two shall be at an advanced level. Candidates with OND (Upper Credit), HND, or NCE (with merit passes in relevant fields) plus UTME requirements are also offered admission. Final Certificates of relevant professional bodies in addition to five credit passes as in (ii) above can also be considered.

Admission Requirements for Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration
(PGDPA)

  • Students admitted will be holders of H.N.D Lower credit, Third Class Degree
    in Public Administration and Second Class Lower in other disciplines.

Admission Requirements for Master in Public Administration (MPA)

  • Students admitted to the program will be holders of good first degrees from recognized Universities. At least 3 years of public or private service
    experience will be required.
  • Holders of degrees in a discipline other than Public Administration would be required to take and pass two (2) undergraduate-level courses in the Department of Public Administration. These courses will not count for the number of credit units required.
  • Holders of degrees in disciplines other than Public Administration would have to go through the PGD program.
  • Students admitted with a Third Class Degree will, in addition, have a minimum of at least 5 years of experience in public or related services.

Admission Requirements for Masters of Science in Public Administration (M.Sc.)

  • Postgraduate studies are a full-time undertaking. To be eligible for admission into the program, a candidate is required to have obtained at least a good second-class honors in Public Administration or its equivalent from Akwa Ibom State University or its equivalent from any other accredited University in/or outside Nigeria. He or she is also expected to meet the General Regulations governing postgraduate studies in Akwa Ibom State University.

Admission Requirements for Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Public Administration
